You can be an NGO, non-profit, registered charity, or an organization with a social mission that operates on a non-profit basis. Applications will be considered from any organization whose mission is exclusively charitable. Please ensure that you have uploaded signed copies of the required documents (listed under section 5, Completing your application, above) to enable us to be sure of your charitable purpose. These must be submitted as part of the application process.

Yes. However, one organization must take responsibility for completing the application, managing the funds, and reporting on impact as lead partner. The applicant organization cannot provide sub-grants to the other organizations in the consortium. There should be a written Memorandum of Understanding between the organizations.

You need to apply through an organization. We will not provide funding to individuals.

We are open to consider projects with a pan-cancer approach, but we will give priority to projects that address the specific needs of lung cancer patients.

Yes; however, this fund is set up to support additional opportunities in the form of new projects. AstraZeneca or Guardant Health funding should not already be supporting the initiative for which you are applying.

No, expenditure must take place after the grant is awarded.

Grants will be awarded up to the appropriate level for each category in US dollars. Please note that grant decisions will be based on the merits of all applications received, as well as the total funds available. Part of the assessment will focus on the transparency and breakdown of project costs, and partial funding may be awarded in some cases. Please request an appropriate level of funding according to your project needs, in line with one of the three categories available, and include a breakdown of your planned project costs.

You must request funding in US dollars. It is then possible to request payment in your local currency; however, this will be calculated using the exchange rate from USD on the date of payment. To counter potential currency fluctuation, please incorporate any anticipated currency fluctuation risk (which can be up to 10% of the total budget if needed) as a line in your budget breakdown, along with an explanation as to why currency fluctuation would negatively affect the final amount received.

The Lung Ambition Alliance is made up of four distinct organizations (Global Lung Cancer Coalition, International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, Guardant Health and AstraZeneca), all with extensive and complementary experience in helping patients and health care professionals manage lung cancer. Yes please. We are interested in supporting video and photos, which you can upload as part of the application form.

We would expect your work plan to include key milestones and objectives, activities planned, outputs, and start and end dates. This information will be used to help us assess the effectiveness of your planned activities and grant request.

The grant request in most cases should not exceed 10% of the applicant organization’s annual revenue as stated in your annual accounts. However, we may fund some projects where funding is above this level. If you are requesting funding in excess of 10%, please provide information on your ability to manage this funding. Multiple applications are allowed from the same organization, but the combined sum of grants requested should not exceed 10% of the applicant organization’s annual revenue. Please provide a justification if the combined grant requests exceed 10% of the organization’s annual revenue.

Yes, you can re-apply in a future grant cycle.

Successful applicant organizations will be checked to ensure they have a charitable purpose as part of the due diligence process. Typical documents required for due diligence checks include annual accounts, governance documents, personal details of your organization’s directors and financial controllers, a certificate of registration as a not-for-profit organization, and proof of your bank account. In addition, there is a short Grant Eligibility Application (GEA) form to complete. All documents will be required in English. We will outline the specific requirements for successful applicants following the decision-making panel.

This is likely to vary by country. Your governing document is the document that sets out the rules of your organization. It could be your constitution, articles of association, bylaws, statutes, trust deed, articles of incorporation, or other legal document, explaining the purpose of your organization and how it works. It must include a charitable dissolution clause (i.e. what would happen to your assets if your organization closes down).
